Which Starbucks Coffees Are Strongest?

If you’re anything like me, one of the main reasons you are able to function in life is because of coffee. For many of us that is Starbucks Coffee. Let’s be honest, the caffeine content in coffee is very important. In this article, we discuss which Starbucks coffees are strongest

I’ve learned that there are many different kinds of coffee drinkers. Some people drink coffee simply to have some coffee to drink, and some people drink it to get a jolt and to wake them up. When it comes to the second group, you want to make sure that you’re getting the best quality coffee with the most caffeine content to make sure you get the boost you’re looking for.

However, when you’re on the go, you may not have time to prepare your coffee in your French Press, your espresso machine, or your Moka pot. That’s when most people stop by Starbucks to grab a quick drink. But do you know what drinks to order that will ensure you get that caffeine intake that you’re looking for?

We’ve put together a list for you of the coffee brews that you can order from Starbucks that are going to give you the greatest jolt. For each brew, we will let you know how many mg of caffeine it contains. Some days you need a little bit more of a kick in the pants from your coffee. This article will help you make sure that happens.

Caffeine Guide – Which Starbucks Coffees Are Strongest?

Starbucks Clover Brewed Coffee – 280mg/12oz

Easily, the coffee from Starbucks that has the greatest amount of caffeine is their Clover brewed coffee.

It’s quite possible that you’ve never heard of Clover coffee, but Starbucks has been offering it since 2007. What makes Clover coffee different than other coffee is that it is brewed using a Clover Machine. This machine uses a vacuum-press technology that preserves the caffeine content. The process is similar to how a French press works, but it is much more sophisticated and utilizes time and temperature controls to perfect the brew.

One tall order of Clover brewed coffee is going to yield you 280mg of caffeine while a venti sized cup will provide you with a whopping 375mg of caffeine.

Another perk about drinking Clover brewed coffee outside of the high caffeine content is that the coffee has a very unique taste. Starbucks offers a number of different types of Clover coffee including Hawaii Ka’u, Kenyan, Ethiopian, Sumatra, Yukon, and more.

It can be challenging to find a Starbucks location that offers Clover brewed coffee. You can find a list of the stores that offer it here.

Blonde Roast Brewed Coffee – 270mg/12oz

starbucks blonde roast

Next on the list is going to be blonde roasted coffee from Starbucks. Blonde roast is something you’ve more than likely heard of as it is more well known than Clover brewed coffee.

Blonde roast is a mix of South American and East African coffee beans that have been roasted at the Cinnamon roasting level. Just to explain what that means, you’ve heard of light roast, medium roast, and dark roast coffee. Well, these categories are further subdivided into smaller categories. Cinnamon roast falls under the light roast category. Basically, Cinnamon roast occurs when the beans barely get to a first crack. This leaves the bean dry and light brown in color. Also, the temperature of the coffee beans never reaches 400 degrees.

If you head to Starbucks to order this second strongest coffee, you’re looking at 270mg for a 12oz cup which is just slightly behind the Clover brewed coffee.

Pike Place Roast Brewed Coffee – 235mg/12oz

This coffee is unique to Starbucks and is named after the location of the first Starbucks store. Starbucks describes it as a “smooth, well-rounded blend of Latin American coffees with subtly rich flavors of cocoa and toasted nuts, it’s perfect for every day.”

If you’re a fan of purchasing Starbucks brand coffee for home use, then this would definitely be one to pick up.

A 12oz cup of Pike Place will provide you with 235mg of caffeine.

Starbucks Nitro Beverages

What is Nitro Cold Brew?

starbucks nitro cold brew

Starbucks first began offering nitro cold brew coffee in 2016. The company had been experimenting with the new brewing method for several years and decided to roll it out to select stores in the U.S. as a test. After seeing positive customer responses, Starbucks made nitro cold brew coffee available nationwide in 2017. The popularity of the smooth, creamy beverage has continued to grow, and it is now one of Starbucks’ most popular offerings. Thanks to its unique flavor and texture, nitro cold brew has quickly become a favorite among coffee lovers.

Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew – 215 mg/ 12 oz

This is served on tap inside certain Starbucks locations. Not all of them offer it yet. It’s definitely something to check out and it has a good amount of caffeine.

A 12 oz. Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew has 215mg of caffeine.

Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew Cans – 215mg/12oz

nitro cold brew cans

This is one that you’ll not only find at Starbucks but you can also find this at many grocery stores like Target or Walmart

If you’re not acquainted with drinking cold brew, it’s definitely a little different. Cold brewed coffee is just like it sounds; it’s coffee that is brewed cold instead of hot like you would typically do. The difference with nitro brew is that nitrogen is infused into the cold brew coffee.

This is a favorite for many people and I would recommend at least giving it a try to see how you like it. One 12oz cup of this will still give you a good kick at 215mg of caffeine.

You may be wondering what is different about this from the previous Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew that was listed. The first option is served in a store from a tap and the second one comes in a can you purchase at a grocery store. You can even get them on Amazon. (This is an affiliate link, we will be paid a commission if you use this link to make a purchase, at no extra cost to you.) Outside of that they are very similar.

An Option for Those Who Still Aren’t Getting Enough Caffeine

Personally, I’m someone who enjoys a good amount of caffeine in my coffee, but what I typically like to do is to get my favorite drink and just have them add one or two extra shots of espresso to the drink. This costs a little more money usually compared to just purchasing any of the drinks mentioned in this article, but it’s just my preference. This also changes the taste, so that’s something to consider if you are thinking about adding a shot or two of espresso.

Getting More Caffeine in Your Coffee You Make at Home

make coffee at home

If you’re like most coffee drinkers, you probably start your day with a cup (or two) of joe. And if you’re looking to increase your caffeine intake, there are a few things you can do to make sure your home-brewed coffee packs a bigger punch. First, start by using more coffee beans. A general rule of thumb is to use about two tablespoons of grounds per eight-ounce cup of water. If you want an even stronger cup of coffee, you can try using a dark roast or espresso grind. You can also steep your grounds for a longer period of time to extract more caffeine. Just be sure not to overdo it, as this can result in a bitter taste.
